Episode 144: Don’t Go Down Stairs. (“Russian Doll”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 144: Don’t Go Down Stairs. (“Russian Doll”)

Hey, everyone! What if real life was a video game, where every time you died to respawned to your last save point? That’s exactly the surface premise of Netflix’s “Russian Doll”, which stars Natasha Lyonne as a woman who keeps dying and respawning to the same moment. It’s like “Groundhog Day”, but trippier.

Episode 125: All Hallows’ Steve Week 3: All About Rips (“The Langoliers”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 125: All Hallows’ Steve Week 3: All About Rips (“The Langoliers”)

Hey, everyone! This week Erin made (“made”) James read what is possibly her most favorite Stephen King book, “The Langoliers”–a book in which time travel is not what you might think, and a man sleeps in the back of a plane for absolutely no reason that we can figure out.

Stick around after the ending credits for the new trailer for Kids on Bikes!

Episode 98: Bats Bats! (“The Sandlot: Heading Home”)

Episode 98: Bats Bats! (“The Sandlot: Heading Home”)

Hey, everyone! Last week, we covered the 1993 classic The Sandlot. But did you know they made two sequels? We decided to skip The Sandlot 2 and go straight to The Sandlot: Heading Home, in which Luke Perry gets hit in the face with a baseball and travels back in time to his own childhood! It’s a sometimes-amusing look at what it means to be a friend, what it means to befriend a ghost, and what it means when your friends say there are bats in the basement.

Episode 88: The Thirsty Games (“Future Man”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 88: The Thirsty Games (“Future Man”)

Hey, everyone! We are wrapping up Time Travel Month with the new Hulu original series “Future Man”, which is “The Last Starfighter”, but with possum semen, and herpes, and that shirtless volleyball scene from “Top Gun”. It’s super good, we promise!

Episode 87: How Can Someone So Good At Naming Cats Be So Bad At Naming Anything Else? (“The Door Into Summer”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 87: How Can Someone So Good At Naming Cats Be So Bad At Naming Anything Else? (“The Door Into Summer”)

Hey, everyone! It’s Week 3 of Time Travel Month and we took a break from watching movies to read a book! Well, James read a book. So please enjoy James telling Erin all about a book she didn’t read! No office-supply pantomimes this time, (un?)fortunately, because this one actually sort of made sense. It’s not without its problems, but we solved those, don’t worry. We are nothing if not excellent problem-solvers.

Episode 86: Unabashedly Casting Kendrick (“Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 86: Unabashedly Casting Kendrick (“Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel”)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to Week The Second of Time Travel Month, wherein we actually publish the episode we recorded for the week! We watched another random Amazon Prime find and this time it worked out for us. “Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel” is the story of three friends and their very nice English and Irish accents, traveling through time, meeting a woman who exists only to be a plot device-slash-set dressing. It will surprise absolutely no one that we both agree this movie could have been vastly improved by the casting of Anna Kendrick in the role of said plot device-slash-set dressing.

Episode 81: Sharpie Man and Candle Baby (“All You Zombies–“)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 81: Sharpie Man and Candle Baby (“All You Zombies–“)

Hey, everyone! We are at PodCon this week! This episode is a little shorter than normal, and a little weirder, but we think those two things cancel each other out and so this is basically the most normal episode of UFO ever.

Episode 37: Bug In a Jar (“Waxwork II: Lost In Time”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 37: Bug In a Jar (“Waxwork II: Lost In Time”)

Hey, everyone! You know when you’re having a meal with someone and they say, “Oh my God, this is TERRIBLE, here, try it”? Well, that’s basically what we are doing to you this week, because we watched “Waxwork II: Lost In Time” and man, was it terrible; here, listen to us talk about it!

If ever there was an episode that brought the not-so-pop-culture to Unabashedly Obsessed, this is it. It’s a bad, BAD movie. But delightfully so? Sort of?

The theme song is a real gem, and we found a YouTube link of it for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5o8WBbUg4E

You’re welcome?

Thanks to Jamie Chahine for our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was a Ladder Down Here?”, which is a much better song than “Bug In a Jar”.

Episode 36: James and Erin Write a Movie (“Redo Year’s Eve 1”)

Episode 36: James and Erin Write a Movie (“Redo Year’s Eve 1”)

Hey, everyone! Did you ever wish you could go back in time over and over and over again until you manage to right every tiny wrong throughout your day, and also that you and everyone around you was named Steve? Well then boy, are you gonna love this movie.

Thank you to Jamie Chahine for our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was a Ladder Down Here?”

Episode 35: Footholds For Your Teeth (“Landline” by Rainbow Rowell)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 35: Footholds For Your Teeth (“Landline” by Rainbow Rowell)

Hey everyone! We read a book! That isn’t by Stephen King! But it does involve time travel. (Even though we are not a time travel podcast.) This week we delve into Rainbow Rowell’s fourth book, “Landline”. What works? What doesn’t? Which character is the worst character, not just in this book but also possibly ever? How, exactly, does one use another person’s dimples as footholds for one’s teeth during a makeout session?

Thank you to Jamie Chahine for our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was A Ladder Down Here?”

Episode 30: Night Shift Gets Cake (“Safety Not Guaranteed”)

Episode 30: Night Shift Gets Cake (“Safety Not Guaranteed”)

Hey, everyone! This week we watched the movie “Safety Not Guaranteed”, and tried to make sense of time travel once again. Side points: That scene in “Labyrinth” where Sarah tries to figure out which door to go through; a short story James has to go on another side point to explain; Erin draws a picture.

Thanks to Jamie Chahine for our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was A Ladder Down Here?”

Episode 23: The Secret (of Time Travel) (“Somewhere In Time”)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 23: The Secret (of Time Travel) (“Somewhere In Time”)

Hey, everyone! This week, James and Erin watch the 1980 cinematic masterpiece “Somewhere In Time”, starring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve. Once you get past how sad it is that Christopher Reeve died, it’s actually a pretty good movie. Well, no, it isn’t, it’s a terrible movie. But it’s a really good terrible movie. You know what? Just go watch it, you’ll see what we mean.

Thanks as always to the epically talented Jamie Chahine for our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was a Ladder Down Here?”

Episode 3: Stephen King : Sparkles : Quantum Leap (Time Travel)

Unabashedly Obsessed Episode 3: Stephen King : Sparkles : Quantum Leap (Time Travel)

In this episode you’ll learn why our Facebook group’s logo/icon/avatar (seriously, what do you call those things?) is the horse, and are let in on one of our favorite inside jokes to date. (Which is saying something, because we’ve got almost 20 years’ [holy cats that’s a lot of years] worth of inside jokes.) We also talk about time travel and stuff.

Special thanks to Jamie Chahine for the use of our theme song, “Did You Guys Know There Was a Ladder Down Here?”
